Description
Oregano honey comes from the wild ground where oregano grows on its own, across the dry hills of Morocco. The result is a dark honey, intense and faintly peppery, that stands up to cheese and lifts a vinaigrette. It has character; it is not an everyday honey.
Our beekeepers follow the bloom and harvest in small quantities. The honey stays 100% pure, raw and unpasteurised, keeping its enzymes, its scent and its colour.
How to use oregano honey
By the spoon, in a warm infusion, over fresh cheese, in a vinaigrette with lemon. Its strength does the work: one teaspoon goes as far as two of a mild honey.
Available in 1 kg and 500 g. Store away from light and humidity. Do not give honey to children under 12 months.
Benefits of oregano honey
Moroccan tradition keeps it for winter: a spoonful in a hot infusion when the throat is sore, on its own in the morning when tiredness sets in. That is the custom, and we report it as such.
Laboratory analysis measures something else: a phenolic and antioxidant content clearly higher than in pale honeys, which the colour already suggested. A measured content is not proof of an effect on any illness, and we do not sell this as a remedy.
Oregano honey is a food. A cough that lasts, a fever or trouble breathing call for a doctor, not a jar of honey.
