Honey prices in Morocco

Our 21 honeys run from 90 to 450 dirhams a jar. The spread is no question of branding: it comes from the plant, the region and what the hive actually gave that year.

The table below is the shop’s own, updated at the same time. We deliver anywhere in Morocco, and you pay on delivery or by bank transfer.

What sets the price of a honey

Three things, in that order. The rarity of the flowering first: southern euphorbia blooms briefly, on dry ground that is hard to reach, and a hive comes back far lighter than one set beside an orange grove.

Rain next. A dry year cuts the flowering, so the crop, so the supply. Moroccan honey prices follow the weather with a lag of a few months, and that holds for the whole market, not only for us.

Labour last. A honey filtered coarsely, never heated, jarred in batches, costs more to produce than one heated and pressure-filtered on a continuous line.

When a price should worry you

Honey sold at the price of sugar is not honey, or it has been cut. Glucose syrup, rice syrup and corn syrup cost a fraction of what mountain honey costs, and they are hard to catch by taste alone.

Be wary of the opposite too. A very high price guarantees nothing on its own. What guarantees is knowing which plant and which region the jar came from, and being able to ask the seller.

Delivery and payment

We deliver throughout Morocco. You pay on delivery, in cash to the courier, or by bank transfer before dispatch. No card is asked for, and no account is needed to order.

The rarest on the list deserves a word of its own: we set out its origin and taste on the daghmous honey page.
